A Day-Trip to Richardson's Daylily Farm, Anderson, South Carolina

A Day-Trip to Richardson's Daylily Farm

My hubby and I took a little day trip to Richardson's Daylilies in Anderson, SC, this afternoon. If you put in the address, 505 Murphy Road, Anderson, SC 29626, into a GPS device, it will take you there without any problems.

Upon your arrival, there will be banks of daylilies on the right side of the road as it winds its way around the man-made lake. Mr. Richardson, an avid water skier, made the lake so he could ski on it. There's a lovely building that they have constructed on the far side of the lake that may be rented for family reunions, weddings, and other special events.

Lake with Special Event Building in the distance.
If you follow the road along the edge of the lake, it will terminate in a parking area directly behind the Richardson's home. An attendant will be there to assist you. Today we were assisted by Mrs. Richardson. She drove us over to the to the day lily field in one of their golf carts where she dropped us off and explained their color coding system for pricing.

Color coded sign explains the prices.

Each potted plant is marked with a color coded plastic stake so that you know the price. Of course, the bigger they are, the more expensive they are. There are over 30,000 daylilies on display with 10,000 3-gallon pots for sale, as well as Hosta and other nursery products. There's no need to "tote" what you want. When you pick out what you'd like, you can drag or carry it to the side aisle or the main aisle where Mrs. Richardson, or one of the other attendants, will pick it up for you in the golf cart.

It's best to call
(864-973-1552)
or check their Facebook Page before you go, in case there is a wedding or some other large event.
Here are their hours for the 2018 season:

2018 SEASON JUNE 1st ...9:00am-7:00pm

Note that this is a family run seasonal farm business. They do not take credit

A field of potted daylilies for sale. Their potting shed is in the background.
Be sure to bring your camera. There were quite a few people there just taking pictures of the flowers. There is no admission fee just to look at the daylilies on the Richardson's farm. Please respect their privacy, especially around their home, which is just a short distance from the potted plants area.
So many different colors!
All were so beautiful that I was in a state of amazement.

There are markers which I, unfortunately, did not
pay enough attention to.
